The problem with the premise of this thread is that modern rappers mumble.
Essentially you're asking if there are any old school rappers that mumble. -
G rap
LL Cool J
Caz -
LL for sure.

Rakim flow and lyrics are still better than most current day spitters, Eric B production obviously sounds dated but that's not a bad thing

Thats a tough question. I still jam to Sugar hill if it comes on. I got some old school to me though. Plenty old school I still fck with but not all the time or anything. Some of that Kurtis Blow I can see sayin it sounds dated, some of the Whodini but 5 minutes of Funk still snappin to me. To give a few examples. So there's a lot of it that still good now to me.

Idk why ? say modern rap mumbles? Yall actin like krit, wale, Cole, kendrick, Drake, meek, Ross, game, Jay, Kanye, asap rocky and ferg...etc aren't modern rappers. Yall stay talkin bout lil uzi, yatchy, famous Dex like they the only ? out. Hell they ain't even the hottest ? out. Yall act like there aren't other rappers there age that actually can rap? Lil Bibby, G herbo, Joey bad ass come to mind. There's literally a 100 rappers I can name hotter than this cats yall constantly focus on mumble rapping. Future and Thug the exception and thug ain't even selling 20,000 units so what's this whole mumble rap excuse I be hearing -

And once again it's big G, runnin the number rackets
Wearin Pele jackets
Fast loot tactics, I'm well up in the millionaire bracket
The boss of all bosses, I own racehorses and a fortress
Corridors with olympic torches and Mona Lisa portraits
Jacuzzis and saunas and eatin steak at Benihana's
Bentley's, limousine, the front yard stream is full of pirahnas
I'm set, a private jet, I drink a lot of Beck's
Get a lot of sess, condo and duplex, diamond infested Rolex
Deliver a crown at the Wall Unit’s with Silver China
Sippin on finer wine-r you see more shines than diamond miners
The Highness, kingpin of heroin
I'm thorough when I have to bring the terror in
Handle business in each and every borough in
Town or city, I'm rollin like Frank Nitti, I'm rich and pretty
Back up kiddies, I got crimies that's grimy and gritty
A ? that's spunky and likes to keep his pockets chunky
Makin most of my money, from all the dopefiends and junkies
I learned from the best the ones that's livin
And the ones that's put to rest
So I bless my chest with a vest and pack a Smith-N-Wes
And then I'm off to get the snaps, not the scraps
The game is be a real mack, the name is Kool G Rap

They said pioneers tho. Rappers from 84-87.
Cube was arguably my favorite from 88. But dudes rhymes been ? butt cheeks since 2000 and up -

Master Ace ........ while, not a pioneer ...... he's a late 80's rapper that still puts it down
De La Soul ....... also not pioneers ...... but late 80's rappers that pen game is 'steel' sharp
MC Lyte ...... late 80's .....I believe she still has a hot 16 left in the tank
Rev Run ..... a pioneer of rappers with a record deal ....... could quite possibly pen a decent 16 right now -
Here's a DJ Hollywood freestyle from 2012. For those that don't know, Hollywood was a Harlem DJ in the late 70s when Hip Hop was being born in The Bronx. The Harlem style was distinctly different from The Bronx style.
Personally I'd rather listen to Hollywood over these new jacks.
