Bill Paxton, the veteran actor known for such films as “Aliens,” “Apollo 13” and “Predator 2,” passed away Saturday at age 61. TMZ reports his cause of death as complications from surgery, which is confirmed by his family.
“It is with heavy hearts we share the news that Bill Paxton has passed away due to complications from surgery,” his family said in a statement. “A loving husband and father, Bill began his career in Hollywood working on films in the art department and went on to have an illustrious career spanning four decades as a beloved and prolific actor and filmmaker. Bill’s passion for the arts was felt by all who knew him, and his warmth and tireless energy were undeniable. We ask to please respect the family’s wish for privacy as they mourn the loss of their adored husband and father.”

Paxton’s Hollywood career stretches back to 1975, with early minor roles in such films as “Stripes,” “Commando” and “The Terminator” soon giving way to more memorable parts in such genre favorites as “Weird Science,” “Aliens” and “Predator 2.” His lengthy list of credits includes “Tombstone,” “True Lies,” “Apollo 13,” the “Spy Kids” franchise and “Edge of Tomorrow.”
Although he appeared on television a handful of times in the 1980s and ’90s, in mostly minor parts, Paxton successfully returned to the small screen in recent years, first as the lead in Showtime’s acclaimed drama “Big Love,” and later on the television miniseries “Hatfields & McCoys” and “Texas Rising.” He also had a brief stint as John Garrett on “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”
At the time of his death, Paxton starred on “Training Day,” the new CBS crime thriller based on the acclaimed 2001 film of the same name. The series premiered earlier this month.
Paxton is survived by his wife, Louise Newbury, and two children.

Only person to ever have been killed by a Terminator, Alien, and a Predator.
A couple that haven't been mentioned that he was great in were Hatfields & McCoys & Apollo 13. Last flick I saw him in I believe was Nightcrawler with Jake Gyllenhaal. -
