It varies from state-to-state, but you're right for the most part.
People really need to read the fine print of those age of consent laws because they can definitely be misleading.

Incorrect. Barring a person in a position of authority, the age of consent pretty much allows an adult and a minor to have sex legally. The age difference exemptions only apply to children under the age of consent so that a 14 year old and a 17 year old couple can legally have sex. Michigan is one of the few remaining states that doesn't have a so-called "Romeo and Juliet" clause on the books making it illegal for a person 16 or over to have sexual contact of any type with someone 15 or younger.

My point in posting that was to show that everybody that could potentially be in that situation needs to hold themselves accountable including the younger ones who look older, the older ones looking for younger ones, and anyone else around who knows what's going on.
