remake of Brian De Palma's Scarface (which is itself a remake of a 1932 film) has been talked about for years, but the project took a major step toward becoming a reality when it was announced earlier this year that Suicide Squad director David Ayer was going to direct the project.
Well, now things are taking the proverbial two steps back, as Variety has reported that Ayer has now parted ways with the Scarface remake director's chair.

This marks the second major director that the Scarface remake has lost, after Training Day director Antoine Fuqua left to re-team with Denzel Washington for the Equalizer remake. According to this new report, Ayer faced a similar dilemma, due to his obligations to Bright, the major Netflix sci-fi action movie starring Will Smith, which will be released this holiday season.

Mannnn, just don't.

If they are going to do it on the Mexican cartels, they should just call it something different. not a scarface remake.

Every director keeps leaving. A sign?
LOL @ Ayer's vision being too dark for the story of a sociopathic killer with incestous tendencies.
Like WTF -
Oh boy another remake of a movie that doesn't need to be remade.

A movie that was already remade once. Another remake was inevitable. -
I'm all for this remake. But they gota take it seriously. Modernize it. Talk about him being involved with the cartel and how trump affects him n all that ? .
-
Thank ? David is gone. After watching Suicide Squad, he can go do something else.

If they recast with Oscar Isaac bet they get a director right away. Don't really like the actor for Tony. Isaac already looks like Pacino mixed with Paul Muni and is a much better actor than Diego Luna.

Isaac was great in A Most Violent Year... critics compared his performance to Pacino as a young Mike Corleone
