Shenmue III is not a re-release of a game. It's the reinvigoration of a franchise that never got to tell it's complete story.

I rememeber square saying they would never remake unless they were almost about to go down under.

He does make a lot of valid points just that particular semantic bothered me because he makes it seem like it was just a kickstarter for a remaster of Shenmue II or something. It's a complete overhaul of the franchise finally telling the story many of us were left hanging on 14 years back.
It's the Twin Peaks of video games and Twin Peaks is coming back to TV for the same reason Shenmue III is happening. To complete the story. -

And as far as the sequals go.....If they are selling and there is a constant demand for them the industry will never die because fans are steadily getting what they want. There has been new content released at this years E3. Super Mario Maker, Horizon, The Division, That Yarn platformer, No Man's Sky. Sequals have always been a staple of the industry from way back in 1987 with sequals to Contra, Double Dragon, Super Mario, Shinobi etc. And yet the gaming industry and the install base is as healthy as it has ever been, so much so that people who post simply gameplays on youtube and making hundreds of thousands of dollars. Does he have a few valid points? Yep, is he absolutely right in his assessment?...Naw

Sequels are the industry tho & I love em.
Can't wait for this Mario maker. Unlimited new SMB/3/World levels means it will be the best game ever.
